About the Piece
Circular Flame is made from layers of fabric, hand-cut, sewn and carefully shaped into a concentric pattern. Inspired by the repeating mathematical patterns found in nature, the layered forms create a sense of depth, movement and rhythm.
I wanted to create a piece that evokes a sense of peace and connection with nature. The repeated forms gradually shift as they move outwards from the centre. Different shades of green highlight the relationship with the natural world, while the circular composition draws the eye around the piece.
